Indigenous Policy Lab (IPL)

Principles

We use the Indigenous Policy Lab (IPL) as a diagnostic platform to bring together and influence political leaders, scholars, and government agencies.

The IPL has 5 main areas of focus:

  • Survey experiments driven by Indigenous Peoples – we try to understand Indigenous opinions toward society’s most pressing issues facing Indigenous peoples such as marginalisation, tokenistic participation, and displacements.
  • Research – we identify the barriers to achieving gender equality and inclusivity and to develop evidence-based best practice.
  • Analysis - we analyse the attitudes of Indigenous peoples in relation to political and institutional trust, political outlooks and how these relate to attitudes towards a range of policy and societal issues.
  • Workshops - we use the data and evidence produced with the Indigenous peoples to be shared in a series of workshops attended by government officers, policy makers, donors, scholars, and activists. Thereby positively influencing their attitude, behaviour, and actions in a way that caters to the needs of the Indigenous population.
  • Policy influence - we provide evidence based on original data which can help the government and other public bodies develop creative solutions to pressing policy problems.
