Indigenous participation
Indigenous Peoples and natural resource management in Nepal and Australia
This project aims to advance understandings of Indigenous community participation by investigating the practice of participation in Nepal’s forestry community, with lessons for Australia and other nations. Its objectives are:
- To produce fresh knowledge and insights for improving community decision making practice by analysing elite capture and social exclusion.
- To develop a new analytical framework to examine bureaucratic re-centralisation and tokenism in community based Natural Resource Management.
- To provide new understandings of local leadership capacity for exploiting market opportunities in the age of climate change.
- To develop principles for trans-national knowledge exchange between local communities in Nepal and Landcare groups in Australia.
