Reframing environmental justice: Insights from Nepal’s earthquake recovery practice
Justice in the context of disasters is important but under-analysed. While disasters affect everyone, they have disproportionate impacts on women and the socioeconomically disadvantaged. Not everyone has the equal ability to respond to these environmental tragedies. This research examines uneven consequences of disasters in Nepal, including the ways different people respond to disasters and the appropriateness of responses from government and non-government organisations, thereby seeking to identify the “winners” and “losers” of the recovery process.
